Likoni Member of Parliament Mishi Mboko has urged the public to pray for the family of Mariam Kighenda and Amanda Mutheu, the victims of the Likoni Ferry Crossing incident.
Mboko called for prayers from across the religious spectrum so that the bodies can be retrieved.
She also urged the family members of the two victims to continue with their prayerful routine.
"I want to tell the family to continue with their prayers. I have seen them praying and I urge them not to tire in praying as God hears prayers. All of us in mosques, churches, and other places of worship let us continue with our prayers. (Niambie famila waendelee na maombi. Nimeona wakiomba sana na mwenye kuomba hachoki na mwenyezi Mungu anasikia. Sisi sote misikitini, makanisani na sehemu zote za ibada tuendelee na maombi)," the Likoni MP said in a video shared on YouTube by NTV. (5:06-5:20)
She promised to be with the family as they wait for the bodies of their loved ones to be recovered.
Mboko's intervention comes as the government continues to urge patience as the recovery effort continues apace.
The government has come under immense pressure to hasten the recovery effort with a section of the public accusing it of dragging feet. The victims of the tragedy have been underwater for 4 days now.
