Mwaura began by thrashing the claims that political coalitions remained cohesive even after the conclusion of general elections. He argued that they do not exist for more than six months after the elections.

The former Ruiru constituency parliamentary aspirant further noted that the handshake was meant for 'all people' in Kenya to 'unite' against the Deputy President William Ruto.

"Handshake is predicated upon a unity of all people against Ruto," Mwaura argued.

According to Mwaura, the current political games being witnessed amongst various factions within Jubilee and opposition were just moves aimed at fulfilling the political interests of the particular groups.

The lawmaker further revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta has denied associating himself with any of those political groupings.

"There is no script. We were with Uhuru Kenyatta in New York and he told us that be it watu wa Kieleweke (people of Kieleweke), watu wa Tanga Tanga (people of Tanga Tanga) or watu wa  Handshake (people of Handshake), he said he is not in any of those," he asserted.

He insisted that various political factions played politics that soothed their selfish political ends.

Furthermore, he asserted that handshake brought confusion, leading to the emergence of political factions with divergent opinions and objectives.
