In a response to Daily Nation story, Ruto said that he has always shown that he is ready to support the referendum if need be.

"FAKE NEWS! What a contradicting headline," Ruto said in a tweet accompanied with his video alongside the Daily Nation story titled; "BBI blow for Ruto as Speaker rules out Parliament."

In the video, the DP insisted that he is fully behind BBI regardless of the way it will be implemented.

"Out of all those recommendations of the report, there are recommendations that will be handled by different levels of government. There are sections that will be implemented by the policies of the government while others will be implemented by the parliament. The government and parliament will work together and create new laws. We have said if there is any section that will demand a referendum we have said we are ready.

So zitahitaji sheria mpya. Serikali pamoja na bunge wataketi pamoja watatunga sheria mpya. Na tumesema kama sehemu yoyote ya ile ripoti ambayo itahija referendum, sisi tuka tayari)" he said in part of the video.

The BBI report was launched last Wednesday and there are already two parallel camps, those in support of it being implemented by Parliament and those pushing for a referendum.

DP Ruto and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga have differed over the BBI Report implementation.
