Police in Thika have 17 inebriated and rowdy people in custody brought in over the course of the day. These individuals who were clearly in a drunken stupor have been arrested a while ago, around 3:00pm., in the suburbs of Thika. "We have picked them from various pubs. Some escaped but we caught up with the bigger lot. They get so recklessly drunk and disturb the serenity of the public. We are not resting until this obnoxious behavior is brought under control." George Kobe, a police man informed the press. Necessary action was taken and the culprits were remanded in custody at the Thika police station awaiting arraignment tomorrow in a Thika Law court. Cases on irresponsible drinking have been rampant in the recent past and the police's efforts to curb this reckless drinking have been futile. "We are on the look-out and we will leave no stone unturned, we shall ransack as many pubs and bars or any hideouts as we can," Kobe concluded. The Thika Deputy OCPD Mary Kiarie has condemned the act and has said that the culprits will serve as an example to deter others who wish to infringe the law in the same way. Kiarie said that she will work together with her juniors to punish the illicit brewers and ensure such cases are eliminated in Thika.
