A 17 year-old boy appeared before Thika Chief Magistrate, Stephen Mbungi, and was charged with defilement and threatening to kill.

Appearing in court for the second time, the boy was charged with defiling a 12 year-old girl in Makongeni area, Kiambu County.

The court heard that the accused person on March 24, defiled the 12 year-old girl and threatened to kill her if she reported the incident, but the girl reported and leading to his arrest.

According to the evidence tabled in court, the prosecution had earlier asked the court to give them a week for the accused person to be examined by the doctor as he seemed not mentally stable.

The doctor tabled his report in the court that proved that the accused person was indeed normal.

The court further heard that the accused, despite being a minor he was using hard drugs as tabled in the medical report, his blood having had high percentages of drugs.

Deputy police boss, Mary Kiarie, expressed her concerns over defilements cases in Thika saying that the culprits will not be given any chance to commit the crime and will be arrested and taken to Law Courts.

She appealed to parents and guardians to be on the lookout to help reduce such cases. Kiarie on the same note supported harsh penalties against rapists particularly those targeting minors.

The accused person denied the charges and was remanded till the April 24, when his case will be heard and the complainant testify against him.
