A ten-year-old girl is recovering at Thika Level Five District Hospital after she was defiled by a 17-year-old boy in March 30 this year.
The accused boy who is in Thika Police custody was arrested on Tuesday March 31 at their home in Majengo Slums, Thika sub-county.
Thika Deputy OCPD Mary Kiarie confirmed that the suspect pulled the little girl into a nearby shallow cave as she walked home from a shop and committed the heinous act against the minor.
The girl however narrated to her mother what happened when she got back home. She was taken to the Hospital where she is still recovering.
The mother to the victim, Mercy Nyawira reported the matter to Thika Police Station and recorded a statement on the same.
Deputy OCPD Kiarie however expressed her concerns over defilements cases in Thika saying that the culprits will not be given any chance to commit the crime and will be arrested and taken to Law Courts.
She appealed to parents and guardians to be on the lookout to help reduce such cases. Kiarie on the same note supported harsh penalties against rapists particularly those targeting minors.
