This was the breakthrough tournament for former Kenyan striker Dennis Oliech who achieved a milestone that will probably stand till the end of time.

During that eventful tournament, which Kenya won by defeating the hosts themselves in the final, Oliech scored a total of five goals to become the top scorer.

The best part of the achievement, however, was that all of his goals were scored when he came into the fold off the bench.

No player in the history of all of football’s tournaments has ever scored all their goals to propel them to the golden boot while coming off the bench.

The fact that he was just seventeen is also an intriguing and interesting fact about the wonder boy who was taking regional football by storm.

He remains to be Kenya’s finest with and fans remember him vividly for his role in Harambee Stars’ qualification to the 2004 Africa Nations Cup in Tunisia.

He scored the winning goal against Cape Verde to propel Kenya to the finals that were hosted and won by the Arab nation.

Oliech has seen quit active sporting and has recently served as the brand ambassador for betting firm Betway.
