The accused, Mary Wanjiru is said to have spiked Mr. Kevin Nyathenya’s drink using Rohypnol stupefying drug.

She is accused of committing the offence on March 17 this year when she’s said to have drugged Mr. Nyathenya at his house.

Mombasa Chief Magistrate Julius Nang’ea sentenced the accused to serve probation time after Wanjiru pleaded guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Nang’ea made the ruling after Mombasa Probation Office told the court that the accused person was an orphan and she stayed with her grandmother upcountry before she came to the city.

The probation officer asked the court to allow the minor to go through a counseling program which is aimed at changing her character.

Magistrate Nang’ea in his ruling granted the request and ordered for the accused to be taken through a counseling program for a period of two years.

The prosecution had told the court on the material date Mr Nyathenya was at the Bella Vista bar in Mombasa where he met the young girl.

Wanjiru after a short conversation requested Mr Nyathenya to buy her two beers and the two, later on, went to his house in Tudor, Mombasa.

When they arrived at the house, Wanjiru told Mr Nyathenya that she wanted to take a shower and requested for him to bring her bathing water.

When he came back, Wanjiru had already opened both beer bottles and gave him a bottle to drink.

After some time, Mr Nyathenya felt dizzy and went to sleep then woke up past mid-day the following day only to find Wanjiru had left and some of his properties were missing.

The court heard that the accused stole a laptop, mobile phone, handbag, music system, a watch and property estimated to be more than Sh100,000.

The accused was arrested on March 20 at Mariakani while travelling to Nairobi after the police traced her using Mr Nyathenya’s mobile phone.
