In a Facebook post on Thursday, Sonko said he is aware of persons operating several fake social media accounts using his name, adding that he has not been issuing any loans.

He reminded his supporters that his account has been verified and has a blue tick, and as such, his supporters should not be misled.

“Beware of impersonators who are operating various fake FB pages bearing my names. Some of them pretend to be my PAs or Sonko Rescue team managers normally call or inbox unsuspecting members of the public to sweet talk them to M-Pesa some facilitation fees either for loan, house rent, logbook or transfer of motorbikes/vehicles processing.

"My official FB page is verified with a blue tick by FB and has a genuine following of almost 2 million people. We do not ask for money to help members of the public. Enjoy the rest of your day,” he posted.
