The Garissa County Senator Yusuf Haji has weighed in on the terrorism problem plaguing the county.
Speaking on Sunday at a conference bringing together leaders from Garissa, the elder legislator urged leaders to stop engaging in blame games and instead promote dialogue among themselves.
"There is no need for us to engage in blame games. We should take a step back and ask ourselves how we are going to pull ourselves from this problem (Hakuna haja ya kulaumu huyu, kulaumu yule. Tujirudie sisi wenyewe tuliulize tutatoka hii shida vipi), " the senator said.
Garissa County continues to be plagued by terror attacks staged by the Somali-based group Al-Shabaab.
The vulnerability to the attacks stems from the fact that the county is situated along the Kenya-Kenya-Somalia border.
Over a week ago, the Al-Shabaab militants attacked a public primary school killing at least two pupils and injuring others.
Apart from attacking people, the group has also targeted communication masts in the county.
Al-Shabaab has demanded that Kenya pulls its forces from Somalia so that it can cease its attacks.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has maintained that Kenya will not accede to the demands.
On Friday, the head of state ordered security agencies in the country to step up the war on terrorism.
