Residents of Nyahera Village in Kisumu West Sub-County are mourning the death of a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly defiled before being killed by unknown people on Monday night. The body was then dumped in a culvert along the Kiboswa – Daraja Mbili road.
According to relatives, the form one student at Dago Kokore Secondary School went missing on Monday evening.
“She was fetching water from a nearby well but the third time she went to collect water she did not show up,” a relative identified as Eunice Anyango told Kisumu based Dala FM.
Her body was discovered on Tuyesday.Kisumu County Police Commander Benson Maweu confirmed the incident.
The body was taken to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary as police continue with investigations to nab the suspects.
Kisumu West MP John Olago Aluoch has condemned the incidence, calling on police to intensify patrols in the area.
While speaking to Members of the Press at the scene of crime, the MP decried what he said is an increase of criminal activities in the area.
“A lot of criminal incidences have been reported in his constituency in the recent days and it calls for action from the law enforcement officers,” he added. The incident comes a few days after a census official was waylaid and raped in Maseno ion Saturday.
