Hours after Hivisasa published a story on stalled Kenya Medical Training College in Obeno, South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has spoken out.
In an exclusive interview with Hivisasa in Kisii, Osoro stated that Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i is responsible for the delay due to his lack of commitment towards the project.
"There is no project that is termed as Deputy President's project. If there is a stalled project, the blame should entirely go to the Government and I will be very particular here. I have seen people say Ibeno KMTC has stalled; why has my TVET that he launched has not stalled? Why is Nyachenge Road proceeding?" he said.
Osoro clarified that the project is a partnership between the constituency and government hence the area lawmaker should spearhead the project.
"Ibeno project is a combined force between Ibeno CDF and the Ministry of Heath. Always, in such projects, there is a commitment that area Members of Parliament give. Like the TVET in my area, I gave a commitment of Sh10M. Like Ibeno, unfortunately, there was no commitment from area MP. The commitment was only given by word of mouth," added Osoro.
He maintained that Ibeno project could be having ownership wrangles hence change of location which the area MP has not come out to address.
Osoro further cautioned Gusii MPs against engaging in sideshows and fully take responsibility.
On Tuesday, Tong'i told Hivisasa that the project is ongoing. He, however, refused to respond to further questions.
