City lawyer Wahome Thuku has opposed Kiambu Deputy Governor James Nyoro's move to take over the management of county affairs.
Nyoro on Tuesday declared he was the new boss after a Nairobi Anti Corruption court barred Governor Ferdinand Waititu from accessing his office over an ongoing corruption case.
However, according to Thuku, the Deputy Governor should keep off his hands from county operations since Waititu was still the 'substantive' county boss.
In a Facebook post, the lawyer opined Kiambu was going down and warned that Nyoro would be a party to Waititu's 'failures' by taking up the Governor's seat in an acting capacity.
"If I were Nyoro, I would not take up the Governor's seat even in acting position as long as Waititu is still there. Let him run the damn County from his home, he is the substantive Governor," Thuku posted.
"In fact, I would never hold any meetings with the CECs or sign anything even where I am a signatory. Let them take the cheques to his home for signatures. Let CECs meet him in hotels or wherever. Let the county run like a low flying plane with no fuel till it hits the ground. Nyoro should not be party to Waititu's failures," he added.
On Tuesday, Nyoro chaired his first Cabinet meeting and assured residents that there was no power vacuum and services will go on uninterrupted.
“We are in office as long as the governor is away,” he said flanked by Members of County Assembly (MCAs).
