Ruto's brigade has since last week been attacking Interior CS Fred Matiang'i over his remarks in Kirinyaga on Friday; that he only takes orders from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The National Assembly Minority Whip now says that Matiang'i's remarks are just an excuse being used by the group to get to Uhuru, whom he opines is their real target.

Speaking on KTN's Pointblank show on Wednesday, he noted that owing to the said fallout between Uhuru and Ruto, his allies are out to cleverly weaken Uhuru using his officers.

"Before you fell down a tree, you cut down the branches. What Ruto and Murkomen (Senate Majority Leader) are doing is trying to cut the branches of Uhuru Kenyatta," he said.

Matiangi's statement was in response to claims that his office and that of his Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has been undermining and humiliating the Deputy President.

Junet in Matiang'i's defence, noted that his remarks should not be offensive to anyone, as he said, there is no law compelling him to be submissive to Ruto.

"I think they have forgotten that these civil servants their first loyalty is to the president and Commander in Chief and not to the Deputy President," he added.

A section of Ruto's allies is now threatening to impeach Matiang'i, with Kibicho for long being seen as one of the anti-Ruto forces within the government.
