African Union special envoy for infrastructure Raila Odinga is set to receive a top continental award later in the month.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) boss is set to be awarded the Icon of Democracy Award on August 16.
Raila who has been considered due to his role in steering democratic reforms both in Kenya and continentally will be feted during the Africa Voice Achievers Award that will be held in Nairobi.
According to the founder of the award Ambassador Elvis Iruh, the award seeks to acknowledge people nominated for their efforts towards bettering the continent.
"Each year people from various walks of life nominate individuals who they deem fit to be recognised for their contributions towards the advancement of Africa,” said Iruh as quoted by the Standard.
Also to be feted is Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Kifefe Besigye who is set receive the African Hero Award for his fight for a better democratic space in Uganda.
Also in the list is Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana who will receive The Governor of The Year Award for the changes he has made in his semi-arid county.
Others set for the awards include Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) PLO Lumumba, among others.
