President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday evening arrived in Barbados, Caribbean Island.  Uhuru was given a grand reception when he landed at the Island on an official mission.

The commander in chief of the armed forces was accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma.

He was welcomed by Barbadian Governor General Dame Sandra Mason at the Government House in Bridgetown, Barbados. The two leaders agreed to unite for the sake of the economic development of their mother nations.

“While welcoming President Kenyatta to Barbados, Dame Sandra Mason, the Governor-General of Barbados said Kenya and Barbados share similar views on major issues such as climate change and the importance of sustainable development of the blue economy,” State House tweeted.

During the visit, Uhuru expressed the need for Kenya and the Caribbean island state of Barbados to improve their bilateral engagement. 

He said that the engagement between the two-nation will benefit them in both the short run and long run. The commander in chief of the armed forces.

“While in Barbados, President Kenyatta will meet with some visiting Caribbean leaders and attend a business forum that is designed to sensitize the business communities from both countries on the investment and trade opportunities in Barbados and Kenya,” added State House.

Uhuru had just left Jamaica where he witnessed the signing of four agreements to deepen bilaterally. He was also the chief guest during the 57th Independence Day of the country.
