Speaking moments after the launch, the outspoken MP called for the creation of a special committee that will be charged with the responsibility of condensing the document.

The bill, Wandayi said, should be brought to parliament for debate and subsequent adoption.

"A special committee of experts should be formed so that they condense these recommendations into a bill that can be brought to parliament, debated and passed. I agree that the recommendations are good, " the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmaker said.

Wandayi appeared to be rooting for a parliamentary adoption of the bill by Parliament instead of Kenyans being subjected to a referendum to decide on the fate of the BBI report.

The question of how the BBI report should be adopted has been a particularly vexed one with opinion divided between parliamentary adoption and adoption through a referendum.

President Uhuru Kenyatta officially launched the BBI report and urged Kenyans to take their time to read its contents with an open mind.

The report will be the subject of intense debate in the coming days before the final draft that will be put up for adoption is crafted.
