The President of the Republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday arrived at State House, Nairobi for an official two-day state visit.
Kiir was received by President Uhuru Kenyatta upon arrival into the country.
According to State House, the two leaders are expected to address various issues of mutual interest and benefit to the two countries
“The State Visit to Kenya by the President of the Republic of South Sudan H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit will consolidate the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries at bilateral and multilateral levels,” State House tweeted.
The visiting Head of State was given a 21-gun salute upon arrival at State House, Nairobi.
He was then led by President Kenyatta to inspect a guard of honour mounted by the Kenya army.
Kenya and South Sudan have continued to enjoy cordial ties since the nation ceded from Sudan.
President Kenyatta has previously assured Kiir of his support as they seek to empower the citizens of both nations.
The economic ties have seen the taxpayers from both countries traveling freely across the borders in search of greener pastures.
