The commander in chief of the armed force broke protocol during the event when he took the microphone before Governor Mike Sonko.

Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in government, remembered the governor had spoken and apologised. He cut his speech and then asked Sonko to say something before he proceeded to address the different stakeholders who were present at the meeting.

Uhuru explained that he never wanted the governor to think that he had ignored him during the event.

“Kila mji uko na mwenyewe. Sitaki eti sasa afikirie mimi nimemsahau. Wacha nimruhusu gavana Sonko aongee kidogo halafu tuendelee,” he said.

(Every city has its owner so I don't want him to think I have forgotten about him. Let me allow Governor Sonko to say a few things and then we'll continue)

During the function, President Uhuru reiterated his commitment to achieving the Big Four Agenda before he leaves power.

He urged other leaders to support his government as he initiates various projects across the country. He also asked leaders not to engage in sideshows at the expense of development.
