Public Service and Gender Cabinet Secretary Prof Margaret Kobia has condemned remarks by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria targeting ODM leader Raila Odinga.
On Wednesday, Kuria accused Raila Odinga of breaking Jubilee party, referring him to "second wife" in the union with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The MP asked Uhuru to ignore Mr Odinga and instead consider reconciling with his former close allies
But Kobia, who spoke to the Star, accused the MP of fueling divisions in the country despite efforts by the president to unite all regions.
"This emerging trend of insults due to political differences must end to avoid destroying society," she said.
She asked politicians to restrain from inciting the public, adding that they should be role models to upcoming generation.
"If we are to mentor the young through role modeling, we need to exercise restraint. Even in expressing displeasure we must respect other persons views," she said.
"Why on earth would anyone misuse the status of a woman as a wife?"
Kuria has been at loggerheads with Mr. Odinga, falling out with President Uhuru Kenyatta in the process following the Handshake.
