The party has appeared to be disintegrating lately, thanks to the emergence of rival factions allied to both leaders, which have been attacking each other.

Speaking on Tuesday, the Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader said Jubilee party can go ahead and collapse, as his own bloc is there and ready to take over.

"The sooner Jubilee disintegrates the better. If they find they cannot proceed, they should disband and go home. CCM is there to take over," he said.

He made the remarks on Citizen TV's News Night segment on Tuesday night.

The outspoken leader said the party has demonstrated that its unable to continue leading the nation, and should therefore do the honorable thing and leave power.

He noted that his CCM party can steer the nation to prosperity and fill the vacancy left in the event Jubilee calls it quits.

"I have a political party that should be in those seats. Why should Jubilee continue? They shouldn't, they should simply disband and go home and say goodbye," he added.
