Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has appealed to residents not only in his constituency but also across Kisii County to embrace census.
The legislator said he wants Kisii County to receive more funds from the national government once he becomes the governor in 2022.
"Kisii residents need to ensure they are counted so that the good numbers can enable Kisii County get more funds for development.
"As leaders we must join hands together to tell the people of Kisii the importance of the census exercise which is ongoing across the country," the vocal MP said on Sunday at Matieko.
He slammed those asking politicians to keep off census saying political leaders have a task of sensitizing people in their respective areas on the need to embrace the exercise.
According to the lawmaker, no resident should give wrong information to the enumerators.
"Men who are married to two or more wives should not shy off. Let the women and all the children be counted to increase the numbers as this will help the county get more resources," added Onyonka.
Onyonka insisted that he will continue mobilizing residents to be counted before the set deadline of 31st August 2019 elapse.
