The death inquest to former Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru was adjourned by a Magistrate court sitting in Nyeri on Tuesday.
Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo put the inquest on halt following an application by a senior official from Director of Public Prosecutions office.
Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecution (SADPP) Peter Mailanyi, on Tuesday, sought more time to trace Sascha Ebel an employee of DT Dobie, dealers in Mercedes Benz.
Maimanyi Ebel was expected to produce a motor vehicle assessment report of the ill-fated Benz, reported to have caused the death of the former county boss
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has not brought the witness in court to testify, seeing as he is said to be away from his home country,” the SADPP in his application explained.
Gakuru died along Nyeri-Nairobi highway on November 7th in 2017 after his vehicle veered off the road and hit a guardrail.
His driver and close aides have been probed for alleged foul play. The inquest is set to unravel the mysterious accident.
Gakuru was replaced by his deputy, Mutahi Kahiga, who became the fourth Nyeri Governor since the inception of devolution in 2013.
