The six were beaten to death by mourners at the funeral service of the late Joannes Oduor, who was killed by unknown people two weeks ago.

Those arrested include one of Mr. Oduor's widows Caroline Atieno, his brother Boniface Onyango and two others; Ronald Oduor and Kevin Omondi.

The suspects were presented before Principal Magistrate Samson Temu, who instructed that they be presented before the court to take a plea on December 2, 2019.

The killing has been blamed on suspicion, after the mob reportedly lynched them after finding their presence at the burial event suspicious, given that it could not identify them.

The situation reportedly worsened when the group which was sought from Ahero in Kisumu claimed to have been contracted by another of Oduor's widow to man the event.

However, the woman who has been identified as Mercy Awuor reportedly disowned them, resulting in the locals accusing them of being behind Oduor's murder.

The arrest came only hours after the Kisumu Bouncers Association demanded the arrest of the killers, terming it a result of incitement, threatening to personally arrest them.

“Nobody would have acted in that manner, in that home without an instruction,” said the association spokesman Edgar Ochieng Odoyo.
