There was drama at Karia village in Kirinyaga county on Friday, when a burial function of a former deputy principal was conducted within 30 minutes.
The ceremony proceeded under a tree as his second wife blocked mourners from accessing the burial site, owing to wrangles that have been surrounding his interment.
The burial came 5 years after his death, as his body has been lying st the Embu Level Five Hospital since his death, as the wives fought over the property he left behind.
The fight was marred with court cases, including a court injunction that further delayed the burial of the teacher.
The quick ceremony was conducted even as some family members lamented that it did not befit the status of the deceased, noting that he needed a more decent burial.
The fiction was conducted by Reverend Cannon Johnson Maricho and Reverend James Njue of the Anglican Church.
The two preachers stressed on the need for the extended family to embrace each other and live in harmony, as Maricho discouraged polygamy among men.
He urged urged polygamous men to handle their wives separately to avoid wrangles between their spouses.
”I would like to urge men not to have many wives and should they have, let them at least build houses for them independently,” he said.
