Ijara Member of Parliament Sophia Abdi Noor has reacted after Kwale Woman Representative Zulekha Hassan was ejected from Parliament for tagging her baby along.
Noor branded the move to eject her colleague from the House as discrimination of the highest order.
"This is a clear violation of the highest order in terms of the women issues and that child has a right," said the Ijara legislator.
The outspoken MP threatened to mobilise other women legislators to bring their children to the National Assembly if the discrimination did not stop.
She said that what happened to Zulekha was wrong and it was a reflection of what other women in the society were undergoing.
Zulekha's ejection threw some light on the challenges that female leaders with breast-feeding children face in dispensing their duties.
Women rights activists have long called for women with small children to be allowed to carry them to their places of work.
It is not clear whether the ejection of the Kwale woman rep will pave way for legislation to allow women to bring their children to the House.
Sophia's tirade did not offer much in the way of legislative specifics to prevent what she called discrimination of the highest order.
Female leaders stormed out of the House in solidarity with Zulekha and to express their moral outrage at her ejection.
