With his rivals baying for his political blood, the DP should immediately change his political strategy if he is to save his political career.

The recent intimidation of his allies by President Uhuru Kenyatta himself and his backers, the DP is working on borrowed political time and failure to act swiftly could mark the end of his glorious career in the world of politics.

The alleged planned ouster of key Ruto allies from key Parliamentary leadership positions could come as a political blow to the former Eldoret North MP as his strength in Parliament will diminish.

At one point, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika and Nakuru Town East MP Kimani Ngunjiri were locked out of the President's function in the country. The duo is Ruto's key political allies.

On Friday, Nyandarua politicians perceived to be pro-Ruto were locked out of Uhuru's function in the county.

Then on Saturday, outspoken Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was roughed up by pro-BBI team in Kitui.

Going by these episodes, Dr Ruto's future in Kenyan politics will depend on his next political move.

So, what exactly should he do?

First, the DP should try as much as he can to keep off all political activities that may appear to contradict President Kenyatta's political aspirations and stand. This will avoid unnecessary collisions between him and the President.

Further, he should declare his unconditional support for the BBI report, which has of late seen him accused by Uhuru and Raila backers for being against. If possible, he should attend all countrywide BBI rallies.

If he plays his cards well, Ruto will survive Uhuru, Raila political onslaught. If not, he will be swept into a political dustbin, never to recover again.
