In June, Mrs Momanyi ditched Tanga Tanga brigade, having spent over one year rallying for Dr William Ruto as the right candidate to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Her decision came days after Deputy President William Ruto visited Nyamira, where he was hosted by dozens of MPs and local leaders.

In a phone interview on Wednesday, Mrs Momanyi said the move may have helped her to successfully fight backlash from her constituents.

The first term Jubilee legislator said joining Dr Fred Matiang'i's camp has helped her to get back on track due to initial resistance she was subjected to.

"I am at peace and that was the right decision for me. We have continued to move easily and with confidence ever since I joined Dr Matiang'i's camp," she said.

"I had tough moments in Tanga Tanga but I can assure you that things are now okay. Let's support our minister. He has an agenda for people."

In Nyamira, only Joash Nyamoko, Vincent Kemosi and Shadrack Mose are supporting Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 bid as elected leaders.

Dr Matiang'i, who is yet to declare any interest in elective seats, has been endorsed by a host of leaders led by Governor John Nyagarama and Senator Okong'o Mogeni.
