Released last month, the report has not been received well by a section of politicians, some of whom argue that it leaves out some crucial issues which need a review.

Among them is Kivuti, who argues that the BBI taskforce erred by not proposing changes on the current presidential governance structure, hoping that it makes changes on that.

He now wants the report subjected to Kenyans during the public participation exercise, which is set for January, and allow them to weigh-in on that specific clause before the implementation.

"Kenyans should be allowed to say if they want a parliamentary system or if they are comfortable with the current structure of governance. Kenyans should also say it they want a powerful Prime Minister position,” he said.

He spoke on Monday, while in the company of over 30 Mt Kenya leaders who convened at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi to discuss the content of the document.

His calls for changes in the document were echoed by formed Tharaka Nithi Senator Alex Mwiru, who rooted for additional executive seats for leadership inclusion.

“We want more posts for the purpose of unifying Kenyans,” he said.

The leaders said that the group is ready to engage with leaders from across the nation before coming to an agreement on what needs to be done.

This is as they termed, a constitutional amendment exercise that needs negotiations.
