Elders and local leaders from 18 sub clans have endorsed the Garissa Township Mp, Aden Duale, to defend his seat on a Jubilee ticket in the August polls.

Duale has since exuded confidence in retaining the hotly contested seat.

Duale said that the endorsement by 18 major sub clans in Garissa Township constituency gives him an edge over his main rivals.

The sub clans are Mohamed Zuber, Degodia, Garre, Bahgeri, Geri, Mkhabul, Issaq, Baalad, Ajuran, Borana, the Arab community and the 7 sub clans of the Abduwak clan.

“I have in the last one week met and hosted representatives from the clans through their elders. We discussed strategies and how we can mobilize the communities in voting as a block for me and all Jubilee aspirants in the August general election,” said Duale.

Duale said that the youth, women, religious leaders, professionals and elders have unanimously reaffirmed their support for the Jubilee administration based on its achievements.

“I am grateful that the leaders have chosen to support me because of my development record and ability to unite all communities in the cosmopolitan constituency,” said Duale.

He said that next on his agenda will be to meet non-Somali communities residing in the area in a bid to consolidate his support.

The National assembly majority leader hit out at his main opponent Farah Maalim (Wiper) has no agenda for the people.
