Gichuru dispensary in Zambezi, Kiambu County, is on the list of 18 health centres to be upgraded in the county.
According to Kiambu Health County Executive Cec Jonah Mwangi, the expansion and upgrading of the dispensary will help ease congestion on top of improving health provision services in the hospital.
Speaking in Zambezi, Mwangi said that the awarding of the tender for the project is expected in a week's time.
The Gichuru dispensary has been given six ambulances which will help the people of Sigona Ward in times of emergency by the county government of Kiambu.
Mwangi said that the residents especially expected mothers were finding hard time in delivering during labour and the ambulances was a big boost to the community.
Area MCA Mutonya Njenga, speaking at the same meeting, lauded the county government for remembering the area residents who have suffered for a long time due to lack of health facilities.
Gatuanyaga, Uthiru and Ndenderu wards are among the wards to be upgraded in the county.
