An 18-year-old man yesterday appeared before Principal magistrate Diana Mochache and was accused of robbery with violence. The prosecution told the court that on the 15th of May 2015 in Banana at around 8p.m Isaac Njenga who is the accused is said to have robbed James Mwangi when he was going home. The accused together with 3 others who were not in court attacked Mwangi and stole valuables from him.
They went away with his phone, Blackberry 9700, his watch and his wallet which had Sh4500. During the attack, the accused with his gang beat the complainant and he suffered major injuries on his head, ribs and his right leg. They managed to escape and left the accused bleeding. A Good Samaritan came to his rescue and took him to Karuri health centre where he was attended to. Mwangi then reported the incident to Karuri police station where investigations were launched in regard to the matter. Police in patrol arrested the accused on the 16th May 2015 at around 7 p.m in Banana where his fellow gang members managed to escape. On interrogation and investigations, they managed to recover the phone in the accused house and his wallet however without the complainant’s National Id. The accused pleaded not guilty and the Principal magistrate Diana Mochache adjourned the case for a hearing on the 4th of June 2015.However he was issued a cash bail of Sh1 million.
