President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday held bilateral talks with Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Al Saud in Riyadh.
The two leaders centered their discussion on trade margins between the two countries with special emphasis on Future Investiment Initiative.
It was Uhuru's first trip to the Middle East, a move that also saw him hold talks with Jordan King Abdallah II.
"President Kenyatta held bilateral talks with the King of Saudi Arabia and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to discuss trade and security ties between Kenya and Saudi Arabia on the margins of #FII," State House said.
The Saudi Royal praised Kenya for fostering regional stability by promoting economies through strong trade ties with East African neighbours.
Also, the two leaders discussed possible areas of cooperation in the fight against terrorism. Saudi Arabia is a close ally of the US in the war against terrorism.
"King Salman praised Kenya for its role in securing regional stability and its open economy policy that has been an anchor for regional economies.
"The two leaders also discussed the need to enhance the cooperation in the fight against global terrorism. #FII2019," added State House.
Kenya is currently engaged in an active war against Al-Shabaab militants in the neighbouring Somalia. Over 4,000 soldiers were deployed to the war torn nation.
Uhuru's trip comes amid concerns over increasing national debt. The head of state has made over 31 trips outside the country since taking over for the second term.
