It now emerges that Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is among the few men who learnt cooking from their fathers, alongside his elder brother Oburu Oginga.
Making the revelations during their father and founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's 20th death anniversary in 2014, Oburu revealed that their father taught them how to cook when they were still young boys.
He said that this way, Jaramogi was always at ease and did not bother even if any of his wives left because he was assured of food on his plate at the end of the day.
But on the other hand was Raila's love for pepper which evolved into a bad habit, which included including it in any food, direct from the kitchen.
According to Oburu, who was speaking at Nyamira Sakwa in Bondo, so intense was Raila's love for pepper that it became hard for Oburu to entrust him with the Kitchen, fearing that the food would be inedible once on the table.
“I used to cook ugali but feared that when Raila is given a chance to cook the main meal, I would not eat it,” he said.
Oburu who succeeded Jaramogi as the Bondo MP after his 1994 death also revealed that he was in change of the affairs of his siblings, including Raila who seems to have overtaken him politically.
This, he said, made him a great boy in the eyes of his father, who also admired his love for education.
“My father thanked me for liking education and for having mentored my siblings,” he added.
