Igathe tendered his resignation citing irrevocable differences with Sonko.

The governor said that he is set to name someone to assist him deliver on his promises.

He made the revelations moments after leaving the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission where he shed more light on KSh 20M alleged loss of funds.

In May, Sonko caused a storm in the political scene after he nominated Deported Lawyer Miguna Miguna to deputise him following Igathe’s resignation.

The nomination was objected by leaders from different factions. A section of leaders from Jubilee threatened to impeach the governor.

They accused Sonko of disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta following the move.  Sonko later changed his tune on the nomination of his deputy.

He has since been facing pressure from different leaders and general public to nominate his deputy. Several candidates had emerged among the favorites for the position before he suspended the process.

Among the names included former Starehe Member of Parliament Margaret Wanjiru, former Dagoretti North legislator Dennis Waweru, Nairobi County Education, Youth Affairs & Gender County Executive Committee Member Janet Ouko and businesswoman Agnes Kagure.

The governor later came out and said he will consider a woman for the position in respect to the gender rule.
