Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who also doubles up as the leader of the majority in the Senate has weighed in yet again on the vexed Arror dam issue.
Sharing a video of a raging Arror river on Twitter, the governing Jubilee Party legislator called for the river to be dammed urgently.
"Arror River has become violent. Wants to be dammed urgently!" the senator said in a tweet on Monday.
The Arror dam project has been at the centre of a raging public controversy whose intensity is only rivalled by the river's intensity during the rainy season.
Arror dam project survived while the Kimwarer dam project was cancelled over what President Uhuru Kenyatta described as its lack of technical and financial viability.
There had been concerns that the value of the two projects had been inflated, leading to the launch of investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) into the allegations.
Investigations found that Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich had sanctioned the projects without prior planning as required by law.
Leaders from the Rift Valley region faulted the arrest and arraignment in court of the CS who was forced to step down to allow for further investigations.
