A decomposing body of Kirinyaga Police Officer who was reported missing on Saturday has been found at his friend's house at Mururi Trading Centre in Mwea.
The officer had been reported missing after he disappeared from Difathas police post where he worked.
Michael Chomba who is a resident in the area claimed members of the public alerted the police officers after they sensed a smell coming from the rented room.
According to Citizen Digital, the officer together with two other people were seen at a local bar on Saturday before he went missing.
One of the two people who were seen with him was identified as the owner of the bar while the other one remains unknown.
The nature of the relationship between the officer and the friend at whose house the body was found is not yet known as police continue with investigation to establish the cause of the death.
The name of the friend has also not yet been released by the officers investigating the case.
One suspect is so far being held at Wang’uru police station in connection with the crime.
The body was transported to Kibugi funeral home in Kutus where a postmoterm test will be carried out.
This is however not the first time that such an incident is being reported in Kirinyaga county.
On September 29th, a police officer identified as Constable Gerald Ngigi was found dead at his house.
According to Nation, it was a case of suspected suicide.
