A warrant of arrest has been issued against Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai.
The MP has been accused of failing to settle Sh2.2 million legal fees for a law firm, Nyamu and Nyamu Advocates which successfully defended him during in an election petition.
He has also been accused of ignoring court summons.
The High Court in Kitui has since issued a warrant for his arrest.
“These are to command you to arrest the said Nimrod Mbithuka Mbai and unless he shall pay to you the sum of shillings 2, 212, 670.40 as noted in the margin together with executing officers expenses and fees, if only, to bring the said judgment-debtor before the court with all convenient speed,” the court directed.
Millitonic Mwendwa Kitute, Mbai’s opponent during the 2017 election had moved to court to challenge Mbai’s victory in 2017 polls.
The firm argued that they have suffered losses since they used their resources and put long man-hours during the election petition.
