All is set for the installation of Eldoret Catholic Bishop-elect Rt Rev Dominic Kimengich scheduled for Saturday 1st February 2020.
According to Fr William Kosgei, the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret the function will take place at Mother of Apostle Seminary grounds in Eldoret town.
Bishop-elect Rt Rev Dominic Kimengich replace Bishop Cornelius Korir, who died on October 30, 2017, was instrumental in peace efforts in banditry prone areas in the Rift Valley.
“Bishop-elect Kimengich will on 31st January be received in the border of Uasin Gishu and Trans-Nzoia in Moisbridge town where Lodwar Christians where he used to serve will hand him over to Catholic Diocese of Eldoret Christians,” said Fr. Koskei.
Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret who spoke to the press in Eldoret town said they will thereafter have a procession from Moisbridge to Eldoret town where he will great residents.He says the Bishop will have a moment of prayer at the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret thereafter will be allowed to rest.
“On Saturday we will have the Installation ceremony first thereafter the Bishop-elect Rt Rev Dominic Kimengich will lead the mass followed by congratulatory messages,” he added.
Fr.Kosekei said the event is expected to be attended by political, government officials, and religious leaders from all denominations and Christians at large.
Catholic Diocese of Eldoret has been without a substantive Bishop since October 30, 2017, following the death of Rt Rev Cornelius Korir.
Since the demise of Bishop Cornelius Korir, Kitale Diocese Bishop Maurice Anthony Crowley has been steering the Diocese as a caretaker Bishop.
Bishop Kimengich, 58, who previously was Bishop of Lodwar was named by Pope Francis to replace the late Bishop Cornelius Korir last week.
