Punguza Mzigo referendum initiative architect Dr Ekuru Aukot on Wednesday told off Suna East MP Junet Mohamed's aide Seth Odongo alias Dikembe Disembe over the planned changes to the constitution.
Dr Aukot, a constitutional expert, has been pushing for the amendment of the constitution and on Tuesday claimed that he has reached the 1 million signatures required by IEBC to start the process.
In a tweet however, Mr Odongo, who works in Mohamed's office, accused Aukot of being 'used' by the system, adding that the referendum drive will collapse in the near future.
"It is an open secret that Ekuru Aukot was BRIBED by Jubilee to push through Oct. 26 polls. Even his referendum push was sold to him to forestall any NASA referendum push akin to CORD’s Okoa Kenya. Always remember: PUNGUSA MSIGO IS A DOOMED VOYAGE!" he wrote.
Dr Aukot was on presidential ballot in 2017 and NASA leader Raila Odinga had picked issues with him when he decided to participate in the presidential election runoff after nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory.
In a swift response, Aukot dismissed Odongo's assertions, arguing that Cord referendum drive that was rejected by IEBC in 2015 did not have merit.
"So this tea boy in Junet's office even has a mind to speak? Btw, what's "NASA's referendum"? Do you mean a referendum by the head of Jubilee B? We are yet to see what those imagined proposals are! You can take this to the bank: you can't match #PunguzaMizigoBill2019. Bring it on!" he said.
The referendum push is expected to gather momentum in the coming weeks. President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga are also keen to have constitutional changes in the near future.
