ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale has taken a swipe at former State House operative Dennis Itumbi over his latest remarks about Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
In a tweet Friday, Itumbi wondered why the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) are yet to charge the CS for corruption.
He based his demand on the implication of the CS in the Ruaraka Land saga, where he is alleged to have authorized the purchase of a piece of public land from a private individual.
He said that he is still waiting for the day the two entities will get honest in their purge on graft and go for the CS.
"One day, maybe, DCI and EACC will drop the double standards and charge CS Fred Matiangi of InteriorKE for selling to GOK #RuarakaLand that already belonged to GOK for a few billions. I am not holding my breath. Until of course, it gets to a TangaTanga WhatsApp group!" he wrote.
But in response on Saturday, Etale dared Itumbi to help kick off the prosecution exercise by availing the evidence he has to the relevant authorities.
He suggested that Itumbi, an ally of Deputy President William Ruto and his Tangatanga group of allies, is just bitter with Matiang'i since he appears to have a different opinion.
He noted that had Matiang'i been a member of Tangatanga, then such demands would not be coming from the Tangatanga faction.
"Hehe, just present the evidence to the DCI. You are so obsessed with CS Fred Matiangi, supposing he was singing that lullaby song of Tangatanga, I am sure you would be praising him how he is a good man. Hehe. We know your desperation and that of your boss. Hapo tulitoka ndugu (we are no longer there brother)," he said.
Matiangi reportedly approved the payment during his days in the Education Ministry.
The CS has not been in good terms with the DP lately after he publicly declared that he only takes orders from Uhuru and nobody else. In response, Ruto accused him of chest-thumping.
