More than 20 students were arrested on Wednesday after a search in Machakos town in possession of bhang and alcohol.
The incident was confirmed by Machakos town location chief Joshua Kimeu, who said that the search was conducted after a lot of students were reportedly seen in bars and clubs.
"We got reports that students were loitering around the market and others were seen in bars taking alcohol. We conducted a search and caught some of them," he said.
He observed that several traders were also nabbed for allegedly selling wines and spirits to underage students.
According to him, some of students bought new clothes to change so that they could engage in unscrupulous businesses. He warned that traders will be arrested.
"We arrested several liquor traders and they will appear in court on Thursday," he said, adding that the crackdown shall continue.
He said the search will go on until all schools close.
