There was trouble at a fundraiser in Kapsangar, West Pokot county on Sunday when supporters of area governor John Lomyangapuo clashed with those of his rival Simon Kachapin.
Trouble began when the entertainment crew went against an agreement and played a song praising Kachapin.
This was despite an earlier agreement that no praise song would be played in the Harambee meant to raise funds for a bodaboda group.
The provocation sparked a wrangle which with time developed into a fight, as the two sides exchanged words and blows, which forced women and children to flee.
This forced the police to intervene, an incident that also happened in the presence of area MP David Pkosin.
When he took the podium, Kachapin stressed on the need for non-politicization of the Jubilee government's Big 4 agenda.
On his side, Lonyangapuo who had also declared support for the Big 4 said that it was not his intention to get caught in the fight, noting that such won't be of any help to the people.
“I was invited by the boda boda group for a funds drive. I didn’t come here to battle with anyone. Every politician should be accorded the respect he or she deserves. Wrangles will derail our people from getting services," he said.
