Among the officers, 995 were from the Administration Police Service (APS) and 229 from Kenya Police Service (KPS).

According to the Ministry of Interior's website, the course took six weeks to be completed and it involved case management, management of crime scenes, reception and recording of complaints, essential areas of law, among others.

The officers were also taught computer lessons.

The skills acquired, the ministry says, will enable them to operate the Digital Occurrence Book (DOB) which will be introduced to increase accountability and also ensure that nobody messes with investigations.

During the pass out parade, CS Matiang'i read the President's speech.

"You will recall on 13th September 2018, I directed that realignment of the National Police Service command structure, to be undertaken, as part of the police service reforms so as to enhance effective and efficient service delivery,” read part the speech which also stated that the government will support the reform programs and training.

The Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai commended the training saying that it will help the officers to diligently perform various duties like investigations and crime detection.

"These priceless skills will also help the officers better understand police station work, build the spirit of teamwork and demonstrate professionalism,” the IG said.

Interior PS Karanja Kibicho, Chairperson of National Police Service Eliud Kinuthia, DCI boss George Kinoti among many others were present.
