Four people have been confirmed dead while 12 others are nursing injuries following an accident at Man-eaters area in Voi Sub-County.

The Wednesday accident occurred along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, and it involved a matatu and a truck.

Confirming the accident, Voi Sub-county Police Commander Bernstein Shari noted that Mombasa-bound passenger matatu is to blame for the fatal accident. 

According to the police boss, the matatu was overtaking another vehicle when it collided head-on with the truck. 

The 12 who were injured were rushed to Moi County Referral Hospital for treatment.

The drivers of the passenger vehicle and the truck survived the accident with minor injuries. 

The deceased bodies were taken to Moi County Referral Hospital Mortuary. 

According to Shali, Man eaters is a dangerous place.

“Man eaters is a black spot and the driver was trying to overtake at a corner. He collided head-on with the incoming canter,” said the sub-county police boss as quoted by K24 Digital

The 3 am accident led to traffic gridlock along the highway.

Shali called on all drivers to be careful especially during this rainy season when roads become slippery and prone to accidents.
