Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga and Siaya Senator James Orengo have been criticised after attending the burial of former Assistant Minister Fredrick Oduya Oprong.
The former Amagoro Member of Parliament (MP) died last month while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
The former Economic and Planning Assistant Minister had been living with a bullet lodged in his head after he was shot by unknown gunmen in Nairobi in 1994.
Oprong lived with the bullet for about 26 since his doctors advised that it would have been fatal to attempt to remove it.
In 2015, he suffered a mild stroke which had dire consequences on his body and as a result, he required specialised attention around the clock.
The veteran politician was also battling diabetes, high blood pressure and chest complications.
Oprong had been living a dog's life as he lacked money to buy his costly medicine and for the upkeep of his large family.
In a 2017 interview with Daily Nation, his wife Grace Oduya said Mzee had five wives and 27 children, 26 of whom were unemployed.
His burial on Saturday at Angurai home in Teso, Busia County, was attended by prominent politicians who included; Raila, Orengo, area Governor Sospeter Ojaamong, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi among other dignified leaders.
The politicians showered Oprong with praise, describing how he was a dedicated and selfless leader, who ought not to be forgotten by the next generation.
"Oprong served this country with great honour and dedication. My prayers and thoughts are with the people of Amagoro and the whole Teso community whom he represented," said Senator Orengo in a tweet.
However, Miguna took issue with the leaders and accused them of failing to offer a helping hand to the former MP when he needed them most.
The vocal lawyer also pointed an accusing finger at Raila and Orengo for abandoning the former political detainee and human rights activist Onyango Oloo who died two weeks ago and is yet to be buried.
"When Oduya Oprong was still alive, Raila Odinga, James Orengo and all the KANU Orphans who attended his funeral today to scream about how great he was never contributed funds for him to undergo treatment. The same way they abandoned Comrade Onyango Oloo," Miguna tweeted on Saturday.
