Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has pleaded with residents in Bonchari Constituency not to abandon him ahead of the 2022 polls.
Maangi who is poised to run for the Kisii County gubernatorial seat in 2022 said he deserves to be the next county boss.
He defended his association with leaders from the ruling Jubilee Party including Deputy President William Ruto arguing that he must make friends with other leaders.
"I'm here to request you to stand with me in 2022. Let the friends I have not be an excuse for you not to support my gubernatorial bid. I will continue coming to Bonchari to listen to your development ideas so that we can implement the ideas together in 2022," said Maangi.
The deputy governor dismissed claims that he is self-centred arguing that he believes in transparency.
He assured residents that he will continue engaging leaders irrespective of their political affiliations with the sole purpose of realising development across the county.
Maangi further reiterated his commitment to helping Governor James Ongwae deliver his campaign promises before his term ends in 2022.
"Governor Ongwae and I are working closely to ensure the people of Bonchari and the county as a whole enjoys the fruits of devolution," he added.
He was speaking on Sunday at Itibo, Rianyabaro in Bogiakumu Ward, Bonchari Constituency.
