Political analyst Ambrose Weda has faulted Kibra parliamentary hopeful on the Jubilee Party ticket McDonald Mariga for being too soft in the heavily contested race.

This comes barely a week after the footballer accused his rivals from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of destroying his campaign materials and vandalizing his car.

The case was reported to the police, with Weda now saying that his actions point at a man who though that the race would be smooth as was his previous soccer career.

Speaking on Wednesday, he advised Mariga to expect even more such incidences in the future, if he is to survive in his new career.

"Mariga should get off the suit. He thinks that this is a football stadium where he is protected," he said on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation on Wednesday.

He also noted that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, which has fronted Imran Okoth, has panicked, hence its unending attacks on Mariga and Deputy President William Ruto.

A section of ODM members who have been campaigning for Imran have been firing shots at the DP, accusing him of pushing the former Parma midfielder into the race.

According to Weda, this is a show of fear, and the party could be scared that so interested in the seat is the DP that he could resort to using illegal ways to deliver it to Jubilee.

"These people far Ruto's candidate, they think he wants to rig big time. ODM thinks Rutonwants to rig Mariga in," he added.

Both sides have expressed confidence in securing a win in the mini pill slated for November 7.
