President Uhuru Kenyatta's decision to snub his abrasive deputy at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Saturday was informed by two factors, reports the Standard.
Although the DP has since dismissed the claims, sources say the president disembarked at ordinary people terminal, leaving the DP stranded at presidential terminal.
Uhuru, sources say, was unhappy that Ruto's team went ballistic on him in two rallies. The Friday's eally at Kesses and another outing at Nyandarua was the point of contention.
In Kesses, Ruto's allies insisted that the president was being misled in the fight against corruption. They specifically insisted that dismissal of Treasury CS Henry Rotich was uncalled for.
“Today, we are looking for enough evidence on Arror and Kimwarer dams without which we are not going to accept the charges against Mr Rotich. We know there are 28 people who are being coerced to testify against him,” Laikipia Woman Rep Cate Waruguru said.
“We summoned Matiang’i to the parliamentary committee on land to answer questions on his alleged involvement in the illegal sale of Ruaraka school land to an individual. My friend, Matiang’i knows what happened. There is someone who is not telling Uhuru the truth,” she added.
Still on Tanga Tanga onslaught, the president is said to be unhappy with the bashing he received from Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi earlier in the week.
But to make him further avoid Dr Ruto, Uhuru is said to have been uncomfortable with the presence of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu at the terminal. Mr Waititu, who has since been arrested, was being sought by the police over graft.
But moments after the story was published by a local media house, Ruto was quick to dismiss it, arguing that the information was inaccurate and should therefore be ignored.
"FAKE NEWS ALERT!!! I was nowhere near JKIA. I am NOT surprised that some media houses & their owners are this desperate. Tuwasamehe tu!!" The DP's tweet read.
