The allies of Deputy President William Ruto have renewed their calls for the rejection of the Building Bridges Initiatives.
The camp of the second in command is not ready to take chances as Raila Amolo Odinga-led team ask Kenyans to back the new report once it has been released.
Ruto’s allies including former senator Boni Khalwale, former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa, Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali, and aspiring woman representative Khadija Nganyi have intensified their trips in the Western as they seek to block a referendum.
The Raila’s camp has vowed to stand with the new report until it is passed.
Ruto's allies, who spoke at Muranda Catholic Church in Shinyalu on Sunday, said that the BBI is a political scheme to deny people their voice.
Khalwale said those behind the BBI report are already losers, adding that they will shoot down the same once it is released.
“In the first place, Kenyans thought the BBI was working for the good of all citizens. But now that it is in the public domain that the initiative is working for the good of only a few leaders; we should stop wasting taxpayers’ money to fund an individual initiative,” said Mr Khalwale.
The leaders also poked holes in Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot’s Punguza Mizingo. The leaders affirmed that there is no way they can root for the reduction of the seats of Members of Parliament.
On the same day, allies of the African Union Special Envoy asked the second in command not to engage in early campaigns.
The leaders include Kisumu Woman Rep Rosa Buyu.Mr Jared Okello (Nyando), Mr Martin Owino (Ndhiwa), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem). Mr James Nyikal (Seme), Jackline Oduol (nominated), Mr Peter Kaluma (Homa Bay Town), Dr Eve Obara (Kabondo Kasipul), Mr Peter Masara (Suna West), Mr Tom Kajwang (Ruaraka), and Mr Tom Odege of Nyatike.
